Kudos to SNL for finally mocking Davis the way she deserves to forever be mocked. She’s a sham of a Christian and an even worse public official.

Albeit Kim Davis really needs to get out of our news feeds and shoved into the dustbin of irrelevance, she finally got the Saturday Night Live treatment she deserves.

She’s a mockery of Christianity and everything the Christ she supposedly worships stands for, so it was certainly befitting for the Kentucky County Clerk to finally get her just deserts and be mocked magnificently by the infamous show that was likely chomping at the bit to come back and lampoon her.

It’s bad enough the woman, as an elected official to serve the public, refused to do her job and serve the public in its entirety, but then she played martyr as she got thrown in prison for not doing her job. Her refusal to sign marriage licenses is still ongoing and she likely has more legal trouble ahead.

As Davis’ story progresses it just becomes more and more sickening: she was used as a sideshow for Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee to pretend he’s holier than thou by holding her up, and she got a meeting with Pope Francis. It’s still unclear why she got a meeting, and the Vatican is backing away slowly from that misstep.

UPDATE (Oct. 3): The shooter behind Thursday’s attack on a community college in Oregon died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin said at a press conference Saturday.

The sheriff said the 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer killed himself as officers arrived. Officials had previously said the shooter was killed in an exchange of gunfire with police.

Ever since the horrific tragedy that took nine lives plus that of the shooter at Umqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, we’ve had nonstop coverage of the steadily emerging details surrounding the very troubled young man who decided that shooting up a college campus would solve his problems. It’s the same after every mass shooting event — we focus on the shooter and his motivations, as if that has ever solved anything before. Well, this time, let’s focus on the victims, and remember their names and faces.

Authorities told reporters that the shooter had amassed 13 weapons — all purchased legally by either him or a family member from a federal gun dealer.

Six of the weapons were recovered at the scene and seven from his home, said Celinez Nunez, an assistant special agent in charge with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The guns taken from the home were two pistols, four rifles and one shotgun, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.

In addition, investigators at the school recovered a flak jacket with steel plates lying next to a rifle and five magazines. Additional ammunition was found in the home, Nunez said.

According to a report from The Ann Arbor News, this past Thursday in Chelsea, MI – James Bristle and Trent Satterwaite who are soy bean farmers were preparing for the harvest by draining water from their fields when they made an unimaginable discovery. As the water drained a sort of wooden looking substance began to appear and at first the two farmers thought it was just an old rotted fence post or something of that variety. But as the water continued to drain it became increasingly obvious that they were looking at the remains of an extremely large animal. In fact Mr. Satterwaite had joked saying this to his friend –

On Thursday, a 26-year-old gunman killed 10 and wounded seven others at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. The shooter was ultimately killed by police. 

The death toll, however, could have been much higher were it not for the efforts of one man who reportedly stood up to the gunman — and took five bullets for his effort.

Chris Mintz, 30, had just started his first week at UCC after a decade-long career in the military when he heard shots fired in the campus' Snyder Hall. According to his aunt, the combat veteran immediately rushed the scene ofthe single classroom where the shooting took place in an attempt to get between the gunman and his fellow students. Mintz reportedly tried to block the door and to prevent the shooter from entering. 

"Tries to block the door to keep the gunman from coming in gets shot three times hits the floor looks up at gunman and says its my son's birthday today gets shot two more times," Wanda Mintz told Q13Fox. Wanda Mintz said her nephew relayed the story to her while on his way to surgery.

I am pretty sure Republicans would be fine with abortion if a gun were involved by Helen Philpot  HELEN: Margaret, within minutes of the President saying that he would be accused of politicizing this latest shooting, right on schedule Fox News accused him of politicizing it.  I swear the yahoos over at that network could start an argument all alone in an empty room. How many times does our a President have to go on television to ask for our prayers and our thoughts  before our elected officials decide to pass sensible gun laws? Why in the world do we think it should be easier and less expensive  to get guns than it is to get mental health treatment? Crazy people fire guns at will these days and politicians have nothing to say except our thoughts and prayers are with the victims.  But a women makes the private decision to end an unwanted or unhealthy pregnancy and those same politicians cry murder and pass laws faster than a hot knife through butter. It occurs to me that if Planned Parenthood would just shoot the fetus with a gun maybe the Republicans would let women have control over their own bodies.   Now I know how awful that sounds, but it's no crazier than all those NRA-card-carrying idiots who are now warning the government to keep their hands off our guns while just a few days ago they pulled Cecile  Richards into a hearing to talk about the government getting its hands on a women's uterus. The hypocrisy of their actions is as appalling as what I just wrote. Then again, I'm not an elected official. If they cared so much about life, they'd work as hard to get rid of guns as they do to get rid of Planned Parenthood. But I fear the only life they care about is the one that will vote for them during the next election. Sadly, I mean that.
