These are real, Yupik Eskimo Mukluks made by hand in Emmonak, AK by a Yupik Great Grandma that speaks little or no English. They are made out of cow hide, beaver and moose leather for the bottoms. New ones are slippery when wet at first, they have to be broken in. I also was given hand knitted knee socks to go with them.

Those are cool, Dad! They certainly look like a lot of hard work went in to them- much more so than the Nikes we're all used to!
Wow! Cool Mukluks! Can't wait to see them up close. That's a very special art. Ashley will have to model them for us. I wonder how they'd look with her wedding dress?!
Marcia I was wondering the same thing, if those lovely mukluks will be part of her wedding attire....LOL...they are beautiful, she'll be the talk of the campus...what a good dad.
I think I'm going to keep them as house mukluks. Unless its really cold and dry next winter. I don't want to get them dirty at all, as I'm assuming that will be my only pair throughout my life time. They've got to last me a long time! I love them. I can't wait to let my feet cozy up in them! Thank you, pops!
