Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly have joined in the effort to make reasonable and responsible gun legislation.  The second amendment also says:  A WELL REGULATED MILITIA in it and we are far from that.  Gen McChrystal recently said that semi-automatics were weapons of war and should NOT BE AVAILABLE to the average citizen.  It is time to make ban any clip over 10 bullets and to ban semi-automatic assault weapons.  In the Aurora Colorado shooting in 28 seconds there were 40 bullets shot - why does the average person need such a gun of mass killing?

The World According To Monsanto

Mansanto makes GMO products and change laws to make genetically engineered foods legal and are pushing hard for not disclosing what foods are GMO.  The studies on GMO's by Monsanto are not released if there is negative results.  Clearly, Monsanto puts profit above the safety of consumers.  If a scientist talks or does studies which shows Monsanto in a negative light, Monsanto gets them fired.

2 crazies with guns shoot up a town - KILLING 2 POLICE!

Can we talk teality about guns and semi-automatic guns yet?  According to the NRA and Republicans the answer is no.  With the logic they have, "Guns don't kill people, people do" and cutting money for mental health services.  It is like us going back to Cigarettes don't cause cancer, the stupid addicted people who smoke the cigarette cause cancer argument.

Reality:  People are dying at an ever increasing rate because crazy people have access to guns because 40% of guns bought DO NOT REQUIRE BACKGROUND CHECKS.  I also question why the average person needs and can legally buy semi-automatic guns, 30 and 100 bullet clips and body armor.  To be able to buy 10 or more semi-automatic guns by showing a driver's license in AZ is just crazy.  Then the person can legally carry those guns concealed legally - death waiting to happen.

We need a real discussion on guns folks.  The safety of our society is at stake.

The Republican Party - No way out

 Republicans:  when it all blew up in their faces…when Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction and the Iraqis met us with IED's instead of flowers and chocolates…when starving the government of revenues didn't create economic growth…when the Republican congress proved more corrupt than their predecessors…when lack of Wall Street oversight led directly to economic collapse…when the country reached it's lowest level of effective taxation since the Truman administration…that's when they launched the Taxed (T) Enough (E) Already (A) Party. Has anything more stupid ever happened?

The disastrous culmination of a 28-year campaign to make the rich richer and the middle class poorer was interpreted as the perfect time to launch a tax revolt on the behalf of people who had never paid lower taxes. At the peak moment for government spending, they launched a war on the only available economic stimulus that might save them their job, their home, and their savings. It was no surprise that the whole venture was financed by plunderous plutocrats in their desperate (and successful) attempt to cause a distraction big enough for them to evade accountability for their actions.

The conservative movement is too stupid to live, but the Republican Party is too advantaged by law to die. It would like to remake itself into a party that reflects the values of enough Americans for them to win. But conservatives would rather wallow in their own impotence and rage than change their core beliefs. The GOP will remain bitterly divided for quite some time. The splits will grow when we debate guns and when we debate immigration and when we debate climate and energy. The coalition cannot hold. The most reactionary of the bunch have the advantage of being correct about one thing. Without race-hatred and religious tribalism and gay-bashing and attacks on women's rights, the GOP has no coalition at all. It would simply scatter to the winds. So, they will persist.

Two Republicans ripped off OR for 17 Million dollars, charter school scams

Two Republicans ripped off the State of Oregon to the tune of 17 million dollars in a scam to set up and operate charter schools.  The State of OR is also going after 2.5 million in fines and lawyer fees.

Get used to this America, the Charter School Scam is ripping off OR now but it is happening throughout the nation.  I hope people are looking into the finances of these Charter School operations.

Compared to 2009, the 2012 reporting on national news is down significantly.  Big Business has shut down the topic of Climate Change.  We have more significant weather events now than at any other time in our past but the Koch Brothers and others won't allow it to be a topic of discussion.

Cut some firewood

I am in Randle, WA and I helped get a trailer load of firewood.  Gar dropped three snags which were hazard trees and I got to load the wood into the truck.  We got a full trailer load - 12 foot trailer.

NRA won't allow the ATF to do its job

The ATF cannot track guns and weapons because the NRA won't allow guns and semi-automatic guns to be tracked.  We have paperwork for Sudafed purchases but we DO NOT have tracking of gun purchases.

FOX won't talk about gun control policies

The most heartbreaking news of 2012 was surely the massacre in Newtown, CT, where 20 schoolchildren and six adults were senselessly murdered by a deranged gunman. The resultant outcry from concerned Americans about the easy access to weapons that are capable of such carnage was met by Fox News as an attack on the Second Amendment and free enterprise. Its response was to slaughter the First Amendment by prohibiting any discussion of gun safety on the network. Sources told Gabriel Sherman of New York Magazine that “David Clark, the executive producer in charge of Fox’s weekend coverage, gave producers instructions not to talk about gun-control policy on air.” It’s also worthwhile to note that while Fox banned all talk of gun control, it did not banish talk of other explanations for the atrocity in Connecticut. Fox had no problem with laying the blame on mental illness, movies or video games. Fox host Mike Huckabee was permitted to go on the air and blame the killings on the absence of God in the classroom (which does nothing to explain similar shootings that have taken place in churches).

While Fox News broadcasts flagrant distortions of reality on a daily basis, the examples above transcend the conventional dishonesty and bias that is its hallmark. These assaults on ethical journalism demonstrate how dangerous it is to permit a political enterprise to disguise itself as a news network in order to shape an extreme political agenda. It is evidence of social programming and manipulation at its worst. The sad part is that we can expect much more of this in 2013. Happy New Year!

Major Gun Law Legislation coming soon!!

The second amendment also says, A WELL REGULATED MILITIA which has been totally ignored or intentionally forgotten by the right wing gun nuts who want every person to have a semi-automatic or even automatic gun whenever and where ever.  The NRA also wants people to have 30 and 100 bullet clips to be legal - just because.  Having been in the US Army and trained on those guns, I can say they are meant to kill and injure people.  I think it is offensive that  person in Arizona can just show his driver's license and get 10 semi-automatic guns without a background check.   I think it is pretty sick but it really is happening.  That same person can get lots of ammo and even up to 100 bullet clips without a background check.  I am hoping these changes will be made.

It seems that there is a lot of things going on in the wings to pass real gun controls.  I think it is way past time.

Rapist is innocent because the woman was single!! Crazy stuff!!

This is just weird.  A man goes into a sleeping woman's room and has sex with her.  She wakes up and realizes it is not her boyfriend and screams and yells.  The rapist admits what he did to the police.  He is found guilty by a jury.  His conviction is overturned because she is single - go figure.

This will be appealed again.  Crazy stuff.

JuanitaJean found out that Gov Rick Scott and Florida is paying Ten Dollars for stories about women's sex lives from this past year.

So, I get a letter in the mail, asking me to answer a questionnaire about my hoochy activities in exchange for $10.  I would immediately call the EPA to ask for an environmental impact statement form to dispose of this sucker because you do not know who the hell has been touching it.

While I will negotiate over many things, I will not have another debate with this Congress over whether or not they should pay the bills that they've already racked up through the laws that they've passed. Let me repeat, we can't not pay bills that we already incurred.

Only time will tell what happens, but McConnell and his crew can't have a debate about torching the United States economy unless President Obama agrees to have it with them. As long as he refuses to negotiate over their threat to sabotage the economy, they can pontificate all they want, but will in the end still face a binary choice: default or no default. Personally, I'm convinced they are bluffing, but even if they aren't, President Obama needs to stand firm: we can't negotiate with economic terrorists.

Fiscal Cliff - Who voted which way in the House?

This tells who voted for and against the Fiscal Cliff solution.    Check it out.  How did the house vote?  It did pass easily.  Now I hope we can have more votes instead of the constant blocking which has taken place the last 4 years.  They need to vote either yes or no, so they can be judged on their votes.  If Preisdent Obama's ideas are voted down (or up) we need to know who voted for or against the idea.  The constant bickering and no votes which has been the pattern with the house has been ridiculous - IT IS TIME TO VOTE yes or no from this point on.  Talk is cheap - votes tell us if we want to re-elect the person again.

Rand Paul (R-KY) brought the shrillness to new heights today on the Senate floor, screeching about how y’all want to punish the rich “producers” and how you’d pay for it when you ruin the economy just because you wanted to get some rich people. Paul likened raising taxes on rich people to “drowning” them (a more specific version of “death by taxes”). Yes, you are killing rich people out of pure spite.

I know this is a stupid question but I’m just full of stupid.  We’ve had the lowest tax rate on the rich for 12 years now and where the hell are the jobs?  Where the hell is the trickle down?  These guys did not create jobs – they created Swiss bank accounts.

I do not want to drown the rich.  I just want to keep them from peeing in the pool.

A Perfect Way to End the Year

I have been watching the teevee and delighted in seeing the Republican congress pitch an indignant fit over President Obama’s speech today. They said he was disrespectful to them.

Really?

Let’s see, Congress has an 18% approval rating. That’s a dozen points below Paris Hilton and 10 points below a cockroach infestation.

President Obama has a 58% approval rating.

And Congress thinks he should respect them? Hell, their mother doesn’t even respect them.

President Obama took his 40 points out for a New Year’s Eve spin. I’ll bet you a slightly used New Year’s Eve noisemaker that his approval rating goes up tomorrow.
