Keith Ellison actually found something they can agree on -- that the private insurance market is a big complicated mess and we could have made sure everyone had access to health care by just expanding some existing programs instead.

Stewart Mocks McConnell for Warnings to Democrats Over Nuclear Option

Daily Show host Jon Stewart poked fun at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) warning to Democrats that ending the long-standing abuse of the filibuster by invoking what pundits insist on calling the “nuclear option” would come back to haunt them.
“Mark my words,” Stewart boomed on Thursday. “One day you Democrats will want to be obstructionist a*sholes making a mockery of our system of government. And who’ll be laughing then? Turtle Man.”
Stewart also mocked media coverage of Senate Democrats’ move to have non-Supreme Court nominations and other procedural matters be decided by a simple majority, rather than by having to get at least 60 votes to pass.

The Republicans are acting like they won - Maddow.

Rachel Maddow's report on Republicans' decision to row down Denial River and pretend like losing is really winning is long, and worth every minute. From the Whig Party to the RINOs, Maddow takes a deep dive into the Republican pathology dictating their current strategy.
You have to love the purity trolls pushing all of their viable candidates out the door. As Maddow notes, there's not really much in the way of policy differences between Chris Christie and Ken Cuccinelli, but Christie has perfected the art of pretending he's playing nice with others while he shoves a knife in their back. He's just as anti-woman, anti-abortion, anti-gay, and pro-oppression and discrimination as Cuccinelli. He just doesn't hang it all out there for everyone to see.

Angry conservative: “I’m offended that those darn liberals have taken prayer out of school! I demand that we allow our children to worship in the classroom!”
The Muslim Test: “Well, OK, we’ll allow the principal, Mr. Siddiq, to lead a morning prayer to Allah.”
Angry conservative: “WHAT?! I don’t want my children worshiping another faith!”
The Muslim Test: “Well, then they can stand out in the hallway while the class prays.”
Angry conservative: “ABSOLUTELY NOT! Why should MY children be treated like outcasts?!”

House Republicans exhausted from working at NOT WORKING - taking more time off.

Following up on a segment from last night’s show, it appears the U.S. House of Representatives, just nine months into the current Congress, can’t think of anything to do. The Republican leadership hasn’t scheduled many work days for the remainder of 2013, and they’re now considering a plan to scale back even further.

For the first time in months, House Republicans are facing no immediate cataclysmic deadlines, and GOP leaders are struggling to come up with an agenda to fill the 19 legislative days that are left in 2013.

Need evidence? The House votes Monday evening and will finish its work week Wednesday. After that, the House is out of session until Nov. 12. Internally, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and senior Republicans aren’t discussing coming back early from the scheduled recess, but instead, they are wondering if they’ll cancel some of the remaining days in session.

This Politico item was published yesterday, so there are really only 18 legislative days remaining until New Year’s Eve – it’s great work if you can get it – a total which may be poised to shrink.

THE ECONOMY IS A WRECK BUT THEY HAVE NO IDEAS ON HOW TO MOVE THINGS FORWARD.  We have to go through the shut down drama in Jan but that cannot be considered now in their minds.
