Russia wants to influence the 2018 elections by utilizing both right and left-leaning websites. If Russia succeeds again, Trump could be unstoppable.
Buzzfeed reported that both the Progressive Priorities PAC and the Conservative Liberty Action Group have the same treasurer, nearly identical websites, and similar robocalls.
Both of the websites share the same robocalling company, Smart Call Media. Robocalls from each start with short clips from political leaders like Trump, Clinton, and Sanders and then ask for a contribution.

The two organizations also share a donation page and have their headquarters on the same street in Austin, Texas. The real Russian connection, though, is the director of both PACs.
Matt Tunstall is the director of both PACs. He also appears to be the CEO of a Russian-based company call IBid Games.
While Tunstall’s name does not appear in documents for either PAC, he does know Robert Reyes, who is a listed director of the Liberty Action Group. Reyes is also the director of Liberty Action Group, and, you guessed it, it has the same treasurer and location as the other two PACs.
Wow, what a confusing, but dangerous, group. If individuals with ties to Russia form these PACs, who can say what they provide to Putin and his regime?
These PACs promote both Progressive and Conservative causes and receive contributions from people on both sides. Their names are now public knowledge.
How are we to know what PACs have Russian ties that want to destabilize our political system? After the political divisions caused by the 2016 elections, can they get worse?
Yes, they can get worse. By funneling information that is friendly to Russia through these PACs, millions of Americans could get misleading information for or against a candidate for office.
These PACs and websites are real threats to our democracy. With Trump exhibiting all the signs of an authoritarian leader, we do not need Russian involvement to enable him and get more candidates elected who support his positions.
We must demand that all PACs and political websites, as well as political contributions by corporations, contain the names, positions, and other affiliations of all officers. We must also demand that Congress hold non-partisan investigations of Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election.
