As one person put it, this Republican tried a 2010 lie on a 2017 crowd and they were having none of it.

It’s been nearly a decade since Sarah Palin and Republicans in Congress assured the American people that the Affordable Care Act would create “death panels” to selectively kill off the elderly. In that time not a single death panel has killed a single grandparent – but around 22 million people got health insurance.

Perhaps that is why a Florida Republican official named Bill Akins tried to justify the GOP’s plan to repeal the ACA by citing fictional death panels the crowd of voters in the room immediately and loudly called bullshit.

When the crowd loudly booed, Akins called them “children.”

A 77-year-old woman got up and slammed Republicans for lying about death panels they say would have already killed her. Akin then got up and screamed at her. It was a truly surreal moment.
