How do you fight Donald Trump? Just keep getting under his skin, every day, one day at a time, for the next 100 days, advises Michael Moore.
Since the president-elect is notoriously thin-skinned, publicly protesting and shaming him for the first 100 days might very well do the trick. On Friday night’s edition of The Last Word, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell started off by asking Michael Moore about his plans for Mein Trumpf’s inauguration.
He answered, “I’m going to be in D.C. as I think hundreds of thousands of people are going to be…” He then urged his audience to join the Women’s March on Washington for (he can’t believe he’s saying this!) “the full first day of the Trump era” on Jan. 21st. Michael Moore then wryly added, “the potentially short-lived Trump era.”
When Lawrence O’Donnell asked what advice Michael Moore has for those of us who’ve lost hope, Michael Moore called for “100 days of protest”. He then hilariously mimicked TrumpleThinSkin whining about protests being “unfair” and observed:
‘Trump gets upset if there’s 10 people outside Trump Tower…. What’s he going to think if there’s 100,000 or 500,000 [people protesting at the inauguration].’
Michael Moore also points out that Donald Trump is a “malignant narcissist” whose massive ego may not be able to withstand 100 days of protests, shaming, and negative feedback.
‘It’s important that everybody go there. This will have an effect. We have to throw everything at this. This man is slightly unhinged, if I can say that, and he’s a malignant narcissist. He’s going to be very upset if there’s a lot of people there.’
Michael Moore added that Donald Trump seems to cave under pressure easily because “he cares what people think of him, he wants to be the popular guy.” And when his social media followers flooded Capitol Hill’s switchboards with phone calls to complain about the GOP’s assault on the House Ethics Office, Trump urged them to back off.
After all, as the filmmaker pointed out, the reality TV star has “no ideology except the ideology of Donald J. Trump.”
‘And when you have a narcissist like that, who’s so narcissistic where it’s all about him, he will, maybe unintentionally, break laws. He will break laws because he’s only thinking about what’s best for him.’
As you may recall, Michael Moore got booed on Real Time with Bill Maher back in July for (correctly, as it turns out) predicting that Donald Trump would win. Luckily, he has also predicted Trump will carelessly break laws and get himself impeached. In case you missed it, Michael Moore also recently unveiled a brilliant five-point plan to stop Donald Trump.
