Donald Trump’s night started with an unprecedented move when his team apparently lied to the press pool following the President-elect (standard for all presidents and president-elects and in the interest of The People), telling them Trump was in for the night and had no further business for the day. From the Associated Press:
President-elect Donald Trump emerged from his New York skyscraper Tuesday night for the first time in days, moving about the nation's largest city without a pool of journalists on hand to ensure the public has knowledge of his whereabouts. The president-elect spent about two hours dining with family at the 21 Club, a restaurant a few blocks from his Trump Tower residence. Journalists were only aware that Trump was leaving home when they spotted a large motorcade pulling away from the building, including an ambulance with lights flashing. The movement was a surprise given that Trump's campaign had already called a "lid" — a signal to journalists that he would not be venturing out for the rest of the day. The practice is meant to ensure that journalists are on hand to witness, on behalf of the public, the activities of the president or president-elect, rather than relying on secondhand accounts.
Once inside the high end ($$$$) restaurant, Trump was greeted to applause by the wealthy patrons. As he moved around the room, he could be heard saying “I’m going to get your taxes down, don’t worry.”
That was captured on a brief video by NBC News correspondent Hallie Jackson, who was inside the restaurant. The video is brief because Secret Service agents moved to block her view entirely. Really? The job of the Secret Service is to block reporters from seeing the President-elect?
After running on a so-called populist platform, appealing to the “working man”, here’s Donald Trump telling a group of extremely wealthy people he’s going to cut their taxes:
