The plagiarism controversy surrounding Melania Trump’s speech on Monday night is raging on, and it’s all because the Trump campaign can’t admit even the slightest bit of culpability.
Appearing on CNN on Wednesday morning, New Day host Chris Cuomo called Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort a liar right to his face after Manafort once again claimed that Melania Trump’s speech didn’t steal any pieces from Michelle Obama’s 2008 DNC speech.
It all began when Cuomo interviewed Manafort and asked him to simply come clean about the fact that portions of the speech had been plagiarized so he could move on.
Manafort declined to do so and instead kept insisting that while there were similar sentiments expressed both in Melania’s speech and the speech Michelle Obama made, Melania’s speech was entirely her own. Manafort then suggested that Cuomo move on from the controversy.
“I can’t move on because you keep lying about it!” an exasperated Cuomo said. “I have to talk about what is true!”
“I’m not lying about any of this,” replied Manafort nonchalantly.
