Well, Trump and his moronic racism just killed a 54 year old American tradition at The Blue Monster, a golf club he spent $254M to buy just 4 years ago. The PGA is moving the World Golf Championships to Mexico, because of course! (No pun intended). The tournament was supposed to be at Trump’s course through 2023, and no doubt that was a big part of why he bought it, but the PGA took advantage of a clause in the contract to flee Trump’s taint when they claimed they couldn't “find” a sponsor (yeah, I'm really sure they couldn't find one racist CEO in America willing to pony up).
The PGA Tour announced that it was ending a 54-year relationship with Doral, which Trump bought in 2012 and spent $250 million renovating, because it could not find a sponsor to replace Cadillac, whose contract ran out this year…The tour has spent a year trying to find a replacement for Cadillac, and it became more difficult as Trump gained notoriety with his caustic comments during his presidential campaign. That began with Trump’s announcement that he was running, when he said Mexico was sending its unwanted people to the United States, and that in many cases they were “criminals, drug dealers, rapists.”
Trump lashed out in what by now is just classless par for the course (pun intended):
"They’re moving it to Mexico City, which, by the way, I hope they have kidnapping insurance."
But more seriously, it sounds to me like any businesspeople involved with Trump better invest in bigot insurance, like the PGA was smart enough to do.
