One of the worst aspects of Trump (and there are many) is his arrogance. It seems to render him incapable of grasping anything outside of whatever idiocy flows through his mind, which is often linked to bragging about how “fantastic” he is. This trait was perfectly put on display following the horrific shooting in San Bernardino that left 14 dead when Trump retweeted a comment from one of his supporters bragging that after these tragedies, his poll numbers go up: Ignoring the fact that the claim isn’t even true, this tweet exemplifies how clueless Trump really is. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist, or even possess much intelligence at all, to understand that you shouldn’t send out a retweet seemingly bragging about a false fact relating to your polling numbers improving after people have died. People have died, families have been destroyed and there are still many sitting in hospitals recovering from their wounds – yet Trump took to Twitter to retweet a comment that seems to be trying to put a positive spin on this tragedy? Are you kidding me? When I read that tweet I took it as Trump saying, “Well, hey, there’s a silver lining, my poll numbers will go up.” And while I’m sure he’ll dismiss it as “just a retweet, not something he said himself” – which is the excuse he used to defend his racism recently – when someone in his position sends something out like that, it matters. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect this garbage from Trump. After all, this is a guy who jump started his presidential campaign by calling most Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals, went on to mock John McCain being a Vietnam POW and mocked a reporter with disabilities. Much of his campaign has been nothing more than a shining example that a good part of the Republican party is driven by hate, bigotry, ignorance and racism.
