Maddow: Trump is giving money to trump: It is a PR tour not a campaign

Donald Trump, as Hillary Clinton recently pointed out, is a con artist. On Tuesday, Rachel Maddow decided to take the billionaire GOP presidential nominee to task for some of his more interesting campaign expenditures — specifically that much of his funding seems tofind its way back into Trump’s own businesses — an interesting fact given how broke his campaign is.

USA Today reports that more than $1 million of the $6.7 million Trump’s campaign spent last month was funneled into his own companies or to reimbursing his relatives for travel and other expenses. In his campaign overall, the Washington Post notes that roughly 10 percent — more than $6 million of the $63 million he has spent — went to pay Trump’s own properties or reimburse him or his family for expenses. In fact, Trump even seems to be drawing a salary, based on a payroll payment he made to himself.
