Pictures of the old Tikigaq Village. 2000 year old village
I live in the new Pt Hope. It was built about 1975. This picture is of the old Pt Hope which was has been in use for over 2000 years. The top picture is where they have the blanket toss game and other games as well. Even today, they have the whaling feast here. The bottom picture is of a mud house which was built with whale bones. It was in use until they moved into the new village. This mud hut even had electricity at the end. It is only 4 feet high. It was warmed with candles or whale blubber burning. It was covered with sod to keep the heat in. There were 2 other villages but they were covered with water.
