The latest report from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), finds that the Affordable Care Act
(aka Obamacare) will cost approximately 20 percent less than originally
projected, partially because lower-than-expected health care inflation
has led to smaller premiums, according to the Los Angeles Times.
When
the CBO first looked at the numbers in 2010, they thought it would cost
the federal government $710 billion during the fiscal years 2015
through 2019, now that they’ve re-crunched the numbers, they are
reporting the dollar figure to be $571 billion, a drop of 20 percent.
And that’s not the only number to drop.
The number of uninsured Americans has been reduced by around 12 million
and projected to be 24 million by the end of 2016 due to the increased
outreach by state health agencies and increased awareness of the
individual mandate..
