Following a major earthquake, a 15 meter tsunami disabled the power supply and cooling of three Fukushima nuclear reactors, causing a nuclear accident on 11 March 2011. All three cores largely melted in the first three days.The devastating effects were initially well reported in all forms of media across the world.
However what is more troubling is that more recently there appears to have been a media blackout on much of the work still going on to try and limit the radioactive leakages that arestill happening more than three years on.
Many experts have expressed their fear of a far worse disaster unfolding should there be any further earthquakes or tsunamis – in fact since the making of the video below there was an earthquake, less than a month ago, measured at a 6.8 magnitude, which struck 6 miles below the sea surface off the coast of Fukushima. The site is still unstable and highly vulnerable.
