Bears not all sleeping in Alaska yet
Despite a denning season that's well underway, brown bears remain astir in the island city of Kodiak, where at least one bruin has recently been diving into Dumpsters and raiding garbage cans in search of food, officials said.
The bear, or bears, haven't acted aggressively. But a local bear task force has moved quickly to replace old trash containers and issue public warnings at schools and playgrounds in the Southcentral Alaska city of 6,000.
