Wickersham speaks: Teabaggers and Terrorism. Excellent

A strong minority of the Republicans in the U.S. House, calling themselves the “Tea Party Caucus,” have seized the U.S. economy as a hostage and are threatening to maim and kill their hostage if the rest of Congress and the President don’t agree to their demands.
If WC engaged in that conduct he’d be surrounded by a SWAT team in flak jackets, a fleet of black Chevy Suburbans and clouds of tear gas faster than you can say “American Patriot Act” and be bundled off to jail.
But these are elected terrorists, you say, which makes it okay.
No.
As Gail Collins points out in a recent New York Times column, this is crazy. Even Senator John McCain (R, AZ), the man who picked Alaska’s Shame as his running mate, thinks this is insane.
We are tolerating hostage taking. We seem to be accepting it as the new normal. It’s insane.
