Letter to Justice Thomas from a black woman: re Voting Rights and his vote

Racism is felt daily by those who are non-white.  The Supreme Court (and Thomas's vote on Voting Rights effectively allows people to be prevented from voting - with the Supreme Court's approval.)

It appalls me that you, a black man raised in Jim Crow's South, could rule parts of the Voting Rights Act unconstitutional. De-legitimizing Section 4 of the VRA dismantles the entire legislation. That gives policymakers and the Justice Department no legal authority to enforce Section 5, the core of the document.
In our America, a (black) cashier at McDonald's cannot also be a Princeton undergraduate. I am instead the welfare queen; you are the dope boy. I'm the baby momma; you're the thug. You're the high school drop out. You are the man destined for prison. You are the one who knows no better but to be violent. You will kill, you will steal, you will lie, and you will cheat. And when you do, America will say, "I told you they were all like that."
