Paul Krugman is someone I listen to - he makes sense.  We have had changes to our financial situation put on us and then you have to consider the results, which is what Krugman does.  He says with the changes which have been taking place the past few years and the improving economy, our budget downfall has improved.  He has some great charts to make his case.
