Here is downtown Juneau - the historical part that people see as soon as they get off the Cruise Ships. It has snow. This area gets about 1/2 of the amount of snow that I get where I live, about 3 miles away. I am very impressed with how they shovel and plow consistantly during snow storms. Speaking of storms, it is 10 degrees and clear skies. We are supposed to get 30+ MPH winds. Friday, we are supposed to get another foot of snow. I got out of school today and saw a wonderful clear dark sky with the moon in it - beautiful!

Talk about snow!!! I can't get over how much there is. And you are supposed to get more on Friday!! It takes a certain kind of individual to live in Alaska. Most of us in the lower 48 could never imagine living with weather that severe. My hat goes off to you. I guess your reward is the absolute beauty of that state. There is nothing like it in my opinion.
It is tolerable as long as you can find ways to enjoy it. I like the cross country skiing and snowboarding so it works for me. A lot of shoveling is part of the equation though. I have had to take at least an inch of snow off my truck every morning since I have been back. The white is great to see. Yesterday, I actually saw pavement! The roads have been white.
