Snowing - 24 inches?

It is snowing like crazy outside this evening. There is a storm advisory saying that we will get at least a foot but more likely 18 - 24 inches of snow. The past two days the crews have been working like crazy to move the big piles of snow around town. With this new batch of snow they feel they need the space to make new big piles of snow. Bad News: They are talking about rain possible for Monday - that would be ugly.

The pictures are of my school's playground after it had been tramped down for two days.
It warmed up to 10 degrees and it was noticeably warmer. My sister in Western Washington State has been warned to expect flooding in her neighborhood. Yikes.

Where can they move all that snow? I never had given it much thought because we don't ever have nearly as much as you do. Stay safe and warm.

They dump it into the Gastineau Channel or put it in unused parking lots. We have monster parking lots for tourists which are only used April - Oct. That is when we have cruise ships. Now, no 10,000 tourists a day, so we can put the snow there.

The Gastineau Channel is a body of water that connects with the ocean eventually.
