Sen Leahy chews out GOP for denying Merrick Garland a hearing for Supreme Court - Very Good

Republicans in the House and Senate are currently grousing about the fact that Democrats have been voicing their opposition to Neil Gorsuch, President Donald Trump’s choice to fill the vacant Supreme Court seat.
These Republicans appear to think that Americans have a very short memory and have forgotten the fact that the seat has been empty for more than a year. Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy just made sure that nobody forgot the crime that Republicans pulled off in obstructing Obama from replacing Scalia with his highly qualified nominee Merrick Garland.
Said Leahy, who represents Vermont, at Gorsuch’s recent confirmation hearing, “The Republican majority leader declared that the Senate would not provide any process to any nominee selected by President Obama despite the president having nearly a year left in his term. This was an extraordinary blockade. It was totally unprecedented in our country’s whole history. Some liken it to the action of the tyrannical kings who claim that they have sole control.” Added Leahy about Republicans’ actions, which were publicly supported by then-candidate Donald Trump, “Committee Republicans went behind closed doors and declared that they would surrender the independence of this committee to do the majority leader’s bidding and they ignored the Constitution in the process. In fact, this unprecedented obstructions is one of the greatest stains on the 200 year history of this committee.” Are you happy that Senator Leahy spoke out about this great injustice?
