Camping Boys from this village wake up to growling Grizzly.

Yesterday afternoon, I was working in my room and 3 boys came in and introduced themselves.

I came to find out that they were 8th and 9th graders who had been camping outside the village.  Now is time for getting fish and berries.  The snow and cold will start in about a month.

Yesterday morning they were in their tent and heard growling outside the tent.  They had a gun in the tent and loaded it.  As soon as they looked out the tent, the bear spit, growled and charged.  The boy with the gun shot and the momentum of the bear took it into the water.  The bear sank and the boys packed up their stuff and came back to the village.

What an alarm clock.

The boys were excited and very talkative.  It is not just going to the zoo when you live in the Alaska Bush.

I will write about the 2000 year old Tikigaq Village visit another time.  This story was much more timely.

I start teaching tomorrow.
