Police in Chelsea, Oklahoma, say they were threatened and forced to drop DUI charges against a man whom they say is very influential in the small town.
Assistant Police Chief Travis Hogan reportedly showed KTUL a dashcam video of a DUI that took place two months ago and has since stirred up a lot of controversy.
"My officers have received threats. I personally and the chief has received threats to our jobs," Hogan told the news station.
On the evening of the incident in question, Officer Nicholas Pappe reportedly pulled over a white Jeep and was greeted by Brian Haggard, who is said to be a businessman who is very well connected, reports The Blaze. Pappe was about to arrest Haggard for drinking while under the influence, but what reportedly happened next stopped the department dead in its tracks.
