Whatever remains of President Donald Trump’s identity as a sane human being has been diminished recently following leaked transcripts of phone conversations Donald had with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.
CNN contributor Ana Navarro, who is a Republican, delivered an ice-cold assessment of President Trump’s ignorance and apparent lack of intellectual capacity.
During Trump’s call with President Nieto, for example, Trump beseeched Nieto to not discuss publicly the fact that Nieto does not intend Mexicans to pay for Trump’s proposed border wall between the two countries. Said Donald to Enrique in the call, “On the wall, you and I both have a political problem. My people stand up and say, ‘Mexico will pay for the wall,’ and your people probably say something in a similar but slightly different language… I have to have Mexico pay for the wall — I have to. I have been talking about it for a two-year period.” Nieto refused to comply with Trump’s absurd request, replying, “My position has been and will continue to be very firm, saying that Mexico cannot pay for the wall.” Answered Trump, “But you cannot say that to the press. The press is going to go with that, and I cannot live with that.”
Stated Navarro about Trump’s conversations during a CNN segment, “The fake news and the lying doesn’t surprise me anymore. The one thing we know he is consistent about, Trump, is lying. The real story here is that you have the Prime Minister of Australia having to explain policy to him like you teach a four-year-old how to read.” She continued, “The President of the United States was completely ignorant and clueless as to the policy that they were discussing. It was cringe-inducing. It was painful for any American to feel embarrassed by the lack of knowledge of this president. It is astounding the level of leaks in this White House. Forget the new chief of staff, he needs to hire a plumber to take care of these leaks.” Regarding Trump’s call to Nieto, Ana opined, “On the Mexican phone call, his base should be feeling very duped today. He wasn’t telling the president of Mexico ‘you’ve got to pay for the wall.’ He was saying to him, ‘shut up, don’t say you’re not going to pay for the wall because you’re making me look bad’. It was all about how he looks, not the substance.” Is Navarro right about Trump? Watch her conversation with Anderson Cooper below:
